A lovely sterling silver Victorian tea caddy imported into the UK by John George Smith and hallmarked in London in 1900. Made by Neresheimer and Sohne.
Victorian lion topped Sterling Silver tea Caddy embossed romantic scenes 1900
Silver tea caddy hallmarked in London 1900 with full English sterling silver import marks for John George Smith. It also carries a full set of Hanau marks for top silversmiths Neresheimer and Sohne to the base. Bombe shaped silver with a pull off lid, the caddy is delicately and profusely decorated with romantic scenes on all 4 sides which are reflected in the decoration on the lid. The lid is surmounted by a beautifully cast lion. The lid and body are both hallmarked.
The caddy measures approx. 7.5 cm across and is 13 cm high. It weighs approx. 166.1 grams.
Condition: In very good antiques condition commensurate with age and light usage only. Good clear crisp hallmarks.
A really sound beautiful object in excellent shape.
