  • Lovely silver table snuff or tobacco box hallmarked in Birmingham in 1835 and made by Edward Smith. Engine turned engraving around the border on the lid and the sides and bottom are also similarly engraved. The top also has a raised foliate edge.  The central area of the lid is undecorated. The box feels solid and robust. Hallmarked on the lid and base. It opens and closes well. When closed it has a wonderfully crafted hidden hinge.

    Could be used for pills trinket or similar small items, small keepsakes etc. Also a nice collectors display piece.
     

    The box measures 10.6 cm across by 5.7 cm and 1.7 cm high.

    Weight: 95.5 grams

    Condition: The box is in lovely condition commensurate with age and light to normal usage. The gilding inside the box is still there. Some light surface marks to the outside in line with its age. A good heavy gauge silver making this a robust useful little box. Clear hallmarks.
