Superb French Bronze Leon Pilet c1900 The Falconer
Superb French bronze by Leon Pilet (1836 - 1916) called the Falconer or Le Fauconnier. This is a bronze statue of a falconer holding his arm aloft as the falcon lands. He is holding the falcon's hood in his other hand as he leans on the falcon's basket.
The statue is signed to the rear of the base. The bronze is beautifully cast and is of the highest quality. It was made c1900.
Leon Pilet exhibited in the French Salon 1861 to 1914.
It measures approx 50 cm high and 18 cm across at the base.
It is in good antique condition commensurate with age and having been looked after. Some areas rubbed and the odd surface mark.
