Silver Vesta or match safe hallmarked in Chester in 1904 by the Boots Pure Drug Company
Silver vesta by Boots Pure Drug Co match safe Chester 1904
A lovely vesta in good antique condition with a lovely patina decorated with foliate designs on the two central panels front and back which are surrounded by thinner panels of geometric designs. The front has a shield shaped cartouche with faint initials in script (PH ?) with the date Nov 10 05.
The vesta was hallmarked in Chester in 1904 and was made by the Boots Pure Drug Company.
It has a top set ring to be attached to an Albert chain or chatelaine and given its attractive decoration it would make a lovely pendant. Some of our customers use their vestas to keep an emergency £20 note in.
The vesta has a strong spring and opens with good tension and snaps shut. It has a really lovely sheen and patina commensurate with its age and normal usage. It has good clear hallmarks and makers mark on the lip of the closure and the sterling and date letter inside the lid. There is a small ding to the corner on the top at the back please see photographs
