Silver Naturalistic cast spoons Joseph Angell 1838
A very rare pair of two early Victorian naturalistic silver teaspoons gilded with gold by the illustrious silversmith Joseph Angell, The stems are cast with branches, flowers caterpillars and ladybirds, and the bowls as stylised leaves.
They illustrate well the Victorian's fashion of depicting the natural world. They are actually a copy of a design from circa 1750 ( p 43 'English Silver Spoons', Michael Snodin).
12cms long the two weigh 40gms together
