Rare Scottish Provincial silver masking spoon Aberdeen James Erskin c1792

  • Scottish Provincial Aberdeen silver masking or mashing spoon in old English  pattern with celtic point. Masking or mashing spoons have a slightly longer handle than an ordinary teaspoon for stirring the tea leaves in the pot - mashing the tea. 

    Marked with the Boars head, JE and the Scottish thistle.
    The terminal does not appear to have been personalised and is clear of any initials etc. Please see the photographs. If you would like to see more detail please contact us.
    It is just under 15 cms long and weighs 12 Grams.
    Condition: In good antique condition commensurate with age and light/normal usage. Slight wear to the bowl tip in keeping with light usage and age Nice patina - not over polished.
