Pair of Georgian silver salts Thomas James 1815

£295.00Price
  • A good pair of Georgian silver salts by Thomas James (registered in London 1804) and hallmarked in London in 1815 on claw feet with gadrooned borders. In good condition and a nice weight of silver. Each one carries initials to the front in script. The hallmarks are crisp and clear. The insides are gilded to prevent corrosion from the salt or other condiment.
The makers mark is worn on one edge on one and there may have been a previous maker who has been overstamped - a not uncommon practice in Georgian times adding to the interest of the pieces.
