A superb urn shaped lidded sterling silver wine cooler or vase by Matthew Boulton hallmarked in Birmingham in 1827. The vase has an applied grapes and vine motif around both the lid and the body of the vase. It has been gold washed.
The hallmarks are crisp and clear on both the lid and base. It measures 37 cms (14.5 ins) from the base to the top of the finial on the lid and 35 cms (13.75 ins) across from handle to handle. It weighs approximately 3427 grams, 110.2 Troy oz.
