A pear shaped claret jug, with a serpent handle. Made in the mid nineteenth century it comes from the Kutch workshops - the most well-known silversmiths of their time. Features beautiful all over Islamic style hand chased and repoussed scrollwork typical of the Kutch regional style. Profusely decorated with animals and birds amidst elegant scrolling foliage, depicting owls and other birds. It would, almost certainly, have found pride of place in a elegant household of the time.
