Georg Jensen silver goblet with full Danish and English import hallmarks for 1931
Georg Jensen Silver goblet 1931
A stunning Georg Jensen silver goblet in fabulous condition. Design Number No 296A. This design was originally developed in 1928, and this goblet is from 1931.
It carries full Danish 925 sterling marks and also London import marks for 1931 being imported into London by Stockwell & Co (George Stockwell) one of the main Jensen importers into the UK.
The early date makes it more sought after and interesting than the later versions as the original silversmiths and designers of the piece would have worked on this.
The bowl is beautifully planished - the hammer marks subtle and even showing that this was made by a very skilled master silversmith. Around the stem of the goblet there are entwined grape vines and grapes all sitting on a domed stepped circular foot.
