Edwardian Silver Vesta Joseph Gloster Birmingham 1901
A lovely Edwardian vesta in good antique condition with a lovely patina decorated with the engine turned straight and wavy patterns with a vacant cartouche to the front. Made by Joseph Gloster and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1901.
It has a side set ring to be attached to an Albert chain or chatelaine and given its attractive decoration it would make a lovely pendant. Some of our customers use their vestas as a pendant to keep an emergency £20 note in.
The vesta has a strong spring and opens with good tension and snaps shut. It has surface wear and the usual light surface "pin" marks and scuffs in line with its age and normal usage. It has good clear hallmarks and makers mark on the lip of the closure.
