This is a fabulous English sterling silver pill box or possibly snuff box with an engine turned design.

  • Made in 1919, the box was assayed and hallmarked in Chester. The hallmarks are crisp and clear. Both the lid and base are marked. The engine turned decoration is also very "clean" and in good condition.

    The central cartouche is decorated with elaborate scrolled initials of the original owner of nearly 100 years ago, adding to the historical interest of the piece.

    The inside of the box is gilded

    Height 0.75 inches (2cms) by 1.75 inches (4.5cms) across Weight: 31.5 gms or just over 1 troy ounce of silver. Hallmarks: lion passant for English Sterling Silver, the Chester town mark, letter t date letter for 1919. Makers mark: S & B for Smith and Bartlam

    Condition: overall the box is in excellent condition. There are some surfaces scratches to the base of the box but these do not detract from the beauty and overall good condition of this item. No dings dents or repairs
