Charles Asprey c1865 Gothic Revival Ebonised box cask Malachite Mounts
A fine 19th century box by Charles Asprey of 166 Bond Street and 22 Albermarle Street London in the Gothic Revival style. From the plaque it would appear that this box was made around c1865 before the Company became Charles Asprey and Son.
The box is brass bound in the Gothic Revival manner. The brass has been gilded. The top and front of the box is decorated with round malachite stones. The box could be used as a stationery or jewellery box or to contain other treasures.

Condition: Good condition commensurate with age and normal usage. Good sound structure. Some rubbing to the gilding on the brass mounts. Opens and closes soundly with strong hinges. There is a small piece of veneer missing from the base of the box. Please see photographs. A high quality sound attractive Victorian box or casket by the top maker.
